We specialise in providing insurance cover to commercial enterprises addressing many of their risk management needs. Our clients insure themselves through Lloyd’s in order to manage their daily risks and ensure they have sufficient provision in the event of a catastrophe.
We lead a significant proportion of the business we underwrite in aviation, marine and international property and casualty. This means that we set the price and conditions for the risks insured but generally take no more than 20% of the overall risk. The remainder is underwritten by other Lloyd’s syndicates, in what is known as a subscription market.
The exception to this is our UK Commercial business, where we generally operate as a sole insurer.

We are working hard to develop and improve all aspects of our client service in order to meet the changing demands of the market. Of particular importance are the quality of the wordings and the proactive claims approach which Amlin provides to brokers and thence our clients. We are currently investing in enhanced platforms, processes and people in these areas.
