Joe Grasso joins Amlin’s legal team

Joe Grasso, an internationally recognised maritime attorney has joined Amlin, the leading Lloyd’s insurer, on a six-month secondment from US firm Thacher Proffitt & Wood. A Partner of the firm, Mr Grasso is a Yale graduate with twenty years’ experience of international legal practice. Mr. Grasso is a member of the American Bar Association, the New York City and State Bar Associations and is on the Board of New York Maritime Inc.
Mr. Grasso has extensive experience in commercial litigation and arbitration in various jurisdictions, with an emphasis on insurance, maritime and contract matters. He has advised clients in the UK, Europe, Latin America and Japan, as well as the US. He also represents insurance trade groups in the US and counsels them on regulatory matters and policy wordings.
Mr. Grasso has substantial experience in investigation and defence of claims under insurance and reinsurance contracts, contracts of affreightment, shipbuilding and ship repair contracts and other commercial contracts. At Amlin, he will report to Group General Counsel, James Healy-Pratt.
