Climate change affects some 35-40% of global insured risks and is thus a significant external risk to our business. In October 2007 Amlin became a signatory to the Climatewise principles, a joint initiative of the Asociation of British Insurers, The Prince of Wales's Business & the Environment Programe, Lloyd's and other insurance market participants.
In order to explore fully the risks and opportunities presented by climate change, we formed a new Climate Change Panel composed of senior underwriters from across our businesss and chaired by the Chief Risk Officer.
We continue to actively manage the direct impact of our activites, including such areas as internal processes, recycling, energy and materials use.
