Amlin is committed to helping brokers provide excellent insurance solutions for end clients across the world. We value stable and long term relationships with our clients and, while we generally transact business through brokers, in certain classes we are also in direct contact with insureds.
- Lloyd’s Brokers
We conduct the majority of our UK and international business through some 150 Lloyd’s brokers, which represent individual companies or groups of insureds. We enjoy strong and stable relationships with four major brokers who provided some 52% of our business in 2007.
- UK Regional Brokers
Outside the London market, we provide insurance to regional brokers and intermediaries in the UK and the Republic of Ireland via our service companies.
Insurance protection offered includes commercial motor, liability and professional indemnity, property and financial institutions, trade credit, high value equine, cargo and transit, yacht and pleasure craft.
- International Regional Brokers
Some of our Lloyd’s brokers source business for Amlin through regional brokers particularly in the United States and internationally, or through managing general agencies which underwrite risks within strictly set parameters on our behalf. These arrangements are known as “binders” and accounted for 18% of our business in 2007.
- Insureds
Amlin has developed close relationships with many insureds, by providing continuity of cover, sometimes over several decades. Examples of this continuity can be seen in the client case studies area.
Our industry is undergoing significant change, in terms of
transparency and accountability in the placement of insurance
through brokers. Also in terms of improved access,
policy issuance and contract certainty, and better claims
management. We are working closely with our market peers and
brokers in all these areas and are investing in the necessary
